Back to the Right Ghost

Sunday 3/8 Jack and I got out for a little ice climbing once again. Only my 3rd time on the ice this year. A great ski winter so far but the ice climbing has been pretty sparse. Oh well, when in Rome..... The approach was much better than last time as the snowpack has consolidated quite a bit with only about 10 new inches on top. We were able to get multiple laps with a couple on Dean's mixed route "Between Heaven and Hell". I led it with only a few hangs, amazing for me. The forecast of 2-4 inches was right on as it snowed hard all day. Spindrift from the top was pretty constant. The ice is quite thin on the top and a little scary moving to the anchors. We descended the gully on snowshoes. What an adventure! Too bad I wasn't able to get any photos of our falling down the rock bands..

Cleaning the snow off the ice to find gear.

JT on H&H. Stiff climbing for sure.
Look ma, no leashes.. I left them home this time!

Did out the sled to go home..
