Teton Pass

Wes mentioned Teton Pass in the last post so I thought i would update. Same conditions on Mt. Glory Wednesday. I was able to get 2 laps in, Twin Slides then 1st turn. Snow was deep (at least 30") and creamy. Slightly heavy in a few spots which helped keep you up. I barely hit a couple of small rocks. A great day with bluebird skies! I didn't have the place to myself it turns out. What a surprise!

MOAB 2010

The Moab adventure. Once again Doug and Lana joined on our annual trip to the desert. First day was quite iffy as we had one of the worst wind storms I can remember. Weather was excellent for the remainder of the trip. The Corona arch was the first hike. Just got back to the car when the storm hit! Next day into Arches National park for the Devils Garden loop. A 7.5 mile loop with some pretty gnarly scrambling. 5.8 climbing (short) in sandals for Lucy was quite intense for a moment. Maggie got to go to doggie day care for her first time. A social learning experience for her. Lucy and I hit Indian Creek for some awesome crack climbing the next day. I got in a couple of nice mtn bike rides each day. Last day was a trip up the Colorado River to The Fisher Towers. An incredible place I would highly recommend! Most impressive formations the camera just can't capture. A short (seemed much longer) hike with quite a bit of elevation gain to a very exposed end point. The hike had everything from sand to slickrock type scrambling with a ladder in the middle on which Maggie needed a bit of help with a belay. Fantastic sunsets and sunrises with great friends around the campfire made a trip we won't ever forget!

Teton Park

Lucy and I stole a great idea from Grayson and Diana and took advantage of a beautiful autumn day in Teton park. A very nice 13 mile ride on the bike path from North Jenny Lake towards the Taggart Lake trailhead. The colors are just beginning to change. I would highly recommend this ride before the early snows come.... Dinner at the Merry Piglets to top off a fine day...

Kelly Canyon Ski Hill

I was able to escape work a little early yesterday afternoon. Maggie and I headed for Kelly Canyon for a quick ride up the Moose run. My first time there this year. It's very rocky this year and I only crashed twice but nobody died. New pedals release differently than the old ones and I can't seem to release fast enough. 81 degrees at the car made a hot climb for us both so we had to stop at the river on the way home. Maggie's favorite: acting like a water dog. I love this place!!!

The Fins

A fine pre-birthday gift! Yesterday Matt and I met Troy and his daughter at the INL junction and hit The Fins for the afternoon. Nice temps in the afternoon when the desert is 90 degrees. On my fourth route of the day where I'm usually exhausted, I was finally able to send my latest project "Virgins of Howe" .11d. Even though it's a moderate route (compared to the stuff everyone around me is climbing) it has eluded me most of the summer. Crazy as I was able to make all the moves on the second go. It was a nice feeling to finally get something you have really worked hard on! Now it's off to celebrate by birthday with my Lucy!!
