Stouts Mountain

Wednesday 2/11. Dean and Turbo have been in exploring mode and thought this knob on the west side of Stouts may offer some good snow. Wow, how right they were! Probably my favorite day in the backcountry.  We skinned up the southwest ridge to a knob at 7700 feet. We did 3 laps on 2 of the north facing lines. We were able to get about 3700 feet of fantastic skiing in steep, treed terrain. Jumping downed trees and navigating a couple of rock outcroppings made it super interesting. A very long trip out made for a fantastic (and a little grueling) 8 hour, 10 mile day.

Steep and deep skinning.
Turbo impatiently waiting for Dean and I to make another run.
The tree that saved Dean's life.

The trip out seemed like the Arctic.
